Greetings all,

The biggeshouse-48815_640t news is that we’re finally in our new house, which means that while taking breaks from emptying boxes, I actually get time to work on music stuff.  I have been looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and making use of the various features of the new website, so we’ll start right now.

Fun In The (Maybe) Sun

I recently got booked at the Surfrider Resort on the Oregon Coast for the 4th of July weekend.  A booking in itself is always welcome, but this one I’m particularly excited about.  It’s my first multi-night gig which is pretty cool.  Cooler yet is that the Surfrider is where Debbie & I usually stay when visiting the beach so I know my way around, which will make it easier to get set up and allows me to give the resort more options as to what they want me to do and where.  Most of all, they make this completely decadent chocolate fudge cake…one must have priorities!

I really like the idea of the play, go on adventures, then play some more paradigm.  I know it’s not likely to happen too often, so I intend to enjoy it while I can.

If you’re going to be on the Oregon coast for July 4th, swing on by!  I have not been given specific times yet, but ‘evening’ is a safe bet for both July 3rd and 4th.  See the list of shows below for more information.

Also in the news, a funny thing happened last Sunday at a local farmers market gig.  But since I’m trying to do more on the website, I’ll make a post about it.  Read all about it here.

From The Studio

Work is progressing on some video projects, including an appearance on a local access program in Portland and the beginning of the In The Studio (ITS) series of videos.  One of the early ITS segments will feature a discussion about improvisation, which is a subject I receive a lot of questions about.  Joining me in the studio will be a long-time bandmate who plays some great improve harmonica, and we always have fun making music together.

More video sessions will include new music and introductions to some of the instruments in the toybox, along with instruction and other topics of interest.  If you have a question or a topic you’d like to see, drop me a line and let me know!

CLASSES

Tonight marks the first group class in our new house and I am jazzed!  I didn’t realize how much I missed spending time on music, or how much time it takes, until I had to put things on hold for moving.  Tonight’s class is a beginning guitar workshop, and the summer term of Survival Guitar begins June 4th.  I’m putting notes together for Survival Guitar II, which will delve more deeply into the concepts of the original class.  Watch for that coming in October.

An extra-special hello to Kath and Steve for the snail mail–my very first paper fan mail!  Call me old-school, but that was exciting for me.  I know, I really should get out more 🙂

Until next time, walk gently and keep listening.
